Arroz a la Valenciana, is an international dish that has a Nicaraguan style and is popularly made for birthdays.
In Nicaragua, there is not a person who has never eaten this dish at a party, because because it is simple to prepare, it is also quite economical. That is why in Nicaraguan slang it is also known as: «Arroz de piñata».
It should be noted that this dish is cooked in various parts of the world, but here you will learn how to make Arroz a la Valenciana a lo nica.
Ingredients for 10 people:
- 2 bars of butter
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 chopped green peppers
- 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 3 stalks of celery, chopped
- 2 peeled and chopped carrots
- 6 sausages cut in wheels
- 1 1/2 chicken breasts, parboiled and shredded
- 1 cup of tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 pounds of fried rice
- Sliced bread
Preparation:
- Put a casserole with a little oil on the fire and add 1 stick of butter, so that it does not burn.
- When the butter melts, proceed to add a medium onion, 3 green chili peppers and 3 cloves of garlic, all these elements are chopped and let everything soften.
- Once all these elements soften, we add 3 celery sticks and 2 chopped carrots, then we stir until both elements take a little bit of cooking for at least 4 minutes.
- Once the time is over, we add 6 hot dog or chorizo sausages, in slices. Stir it together with the other ingredients so that it caramelizes with a little more butter, 1 stick to be specific.
- Now we add 1 1/2 of boiled and shredded or shredded chicken breast. Once the integration is finished, we mix it with the other ingredients so that it takes color and harmony.
- Once the integration is finished, we add 1 cup of tomato sauce that has sweetness and we mix it well because this will be our coloring so that our rice looks nice and also gives it an extra touch of flavor.
- Now we add 1 and a half pounds of fried rice, as it is traditionally done in Nicaragua and without balls. The rice should be perfect.
- Now over a moderate heat, we mix everything until the rice is integrated with all the elements and wait for 5 minutes to cook.
